Yummy! A new book from Darynda Jones and what a treat it was AS USUAL! :) Right off the bat, I'll say one of the things I enjoyed most about this book was how the story took new turns. At the end of book two, Lorelei is leaving her hometown to try and protect her family by not being around them because the bad guys keep finding her and attacking her. The friendships and relationships Darynda has built up for us in books one and two are a major draw for readers so taking Lorelei away to create new ones made me wonder if they could be just as good as the ones we would miss...

Gobble! Gobble! Gobble! No, it's not a thanksgiving joke in the middle of July, it's how I read this latest installment in the Charley Davidson series. And ooooo weee! It was good! Darynda cooks us up a table laden with twisty turns, whodunits, and touching character moments with some hot sauce on the side. Like Darynda, who mentions...

Sweet sigh and trilling heart, after a hiatus from my normal reading habits I could finally hold a new book in my hands from treasured author, Darynda Jones. I flipped the sign on my bedroom door, "Do not disturb unless you have a handful of truffles". Okay, I don't really have a sign like that, but a girl can dream can't she? Point is, I was more than ready to pull on my literal scruffy sneakers, roll my eyes with the best of teenage intention and battle the bad guys. In Death, doom and detention, Darynda effortlessly returns to writing great relationships between Brook and Lor, Glitch and the girls and carries us further with...

Another series by Darynda Jones? YUMMY! Finding this book by chance on the shelves was like a disco ball falling from the ceiling and "Party Rocket" bursting from invisible speakers. I didn't think it was possible for a new favorite author of mine to have anything on the shelves without me having devoured it first. Being a librarian DOES have its perks you know. I was curious about this Young Adult series by Darynda because her adult series is very, um, adult in content. True, there are some definite sizzly, hot spots, but...

I eagerly awaited this second installment in the Charley Davidson series and was not disappointed.  Charley is her usual gritty self with a spotlight on her blase attitude towards personal danger.  In fact, if I had to paraphrase this book it's the one where Charley gets the stuffing knocked out of her time and time again.

Normally I would not include these types of books here at Miss Gevious, but this is a classic cross-genre book that blurs the line for me - and it was a great read so I couldn't resist adding it here. True to the book synopsis, it does begin with a triple murder mystery - but we are not privy to those scenes only to the questions it leaves our characters. AND there is a heavy vein of romance throughout the book which tipped the scales for me to include it here. This is Darynda's smash hit debut novel which won some pretty chunky awards in 2009 - and with an editor like Jen Enderlin you just can't go wrong! Between you and me, something heavy must have gone down at...
